Stylish and Eternal: Titanium Wedding Rings

October 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Titanium - it evokes thoughts of durability and strength. Could there be a stronger statement of the commitment and love symbolized by a wedding ring? This metal, while seemingly so common, has extraordinary properties that make it a perfect base for engagement and wedding rings.

Titanium is among the strongest metals. A large amount of force is needed in order for a titanium ring to get bent out of shape. For example, a gold wedding ring is far more likely to be damaged if you slam the car door on your hand. You might be able to scratch it, but it won’t be easy. A little polishing and it will look like new again.

Yet, despite this hardness, wearers need have no concerns about being unable to remove a titanium ring in an emergency. In rare instances, a gold ring can be bent into a finger, causing painful pressure. With a titanium wedding ring, this is more unlikely. But if it should happen, the ring can be cut off just as any other.

Strength is one reason that titanium makes its way into jets and other high-tech applications. However, there is another. It’s extremely light, weighing in at two thirds less than gold. Many enjoy the feathery feel of a titanium ring. It sits lightly on the hand and presents no resistance to moving the finger. This is a real bonus for those who spend a lot of time using a keyboard.

And, because it is hypoallergenic and medically safe, titanium wedding rings can be worn full time with no concerns. There’s no effect on the skin. Titanium is a benign material, and is employed in numerous medical situations such as hip implants.

Titanium engagement or wedding rings aren’t just a practical wonder, though. They’re also stunning in appearance.

Titanium in its natural form is gray in color, sort of like stainless steel only more lustrous. It polishes to a high sheen and, because it’s so hard, can be worked into brilliant designs. Those attributes can produce an elegant and unique piece of jewellery. During the manufacturing process, it can also be treated so it becomes a shining black in color. However, make sure you get genuine black titanium; if it has just been coated it will have to be restored periodically.

Men, particularly, enjoy the option of having the stylish alternative presented by this unusual wedding ring metal. Combining the two types - gray and black - gives even more design choices. The result is a stellar wedding ring that is ultra-lightweight, stylish and unusual.

Think about the distinctive appearance and image of your wedding ring. Remember, you’re unique. Doesn’t it make sense that your ring be unique as well?
