Makeup Artist in a Budget Wedding?

Budget Wedding
sitzngiggles asked:

So we’re getting married this fall and so far we’ve managed to obtain a romantic elegant ceremony on a tight budget. My question is, comparing the cost of a makeup artist to new wedding day makeup and the stress of doing it myself, should I be a diva and have someone else do it or spend the money somewhere else?

You simply cannot use ‘Budget’ and ‘Make-up Artist’ in the same sentence. That is an oxymoron. HAHAHAHAHA.

It honestly depends on your priorities. Where else would you spend the money and is that more important to you? How much makeup do you need and would you feel comfortable doing it yourself? Would you be stressed because you feel that makeup you apply doesn’t look good enough, or because you could be in a rush and have many other things to do? Is it possible you could go to a cosmetics counter or beauty school and have them do it? Do you have friends or relatives who are good at applying makeup?

While hiring a makeup artist is nice, can give a professional look and make you feel pampered, if you or someone you already know can do it and you still feel great about how you look, I’d spend the money elsewhere. Every bride has different priorties but I’d rather spend more money on a photographer, wedding gown, or cake, than makeup.

You could always have someone at the makeup counter show you how you want your makeup to look, and help to give you some tips on applying it.
Then, if you wanted to save money and do it yourself, you could. Just have her write the down the products she used, and you can have your look planned out.

maybe you have a friend that can do your makeup, if not then you should splurge

Well with you being an artist & all if someone else is doing it for you. The whole time they are applying you will be saying I can do it better or no not like that. Well that’s how I was. i no artist but you will want everything perfect. Don’t put yourself under pressure or try anything drastic just apply it yourself. So it will be done your way on your day
